Red Alert 2 Maps
Hey now, let's face it, when it comes to RTS games like Red Alert 2,
maps just keep the community going. With the release of Final Alert and
Final Alert 2 we now have the power to keep it going even more.
With the Final Alert 2 editor, anyone with Red Alert 2 and an imagination
can make their own stunning and jaw-dropping maps to spread throught the
rest of the world.
Like other Red Alert 2 websites out there, Volrath's Castle makes it
easier to spread your maps throughout the world, as well as let you browse
through the creations that others have made with their own imagination.
Well, lets finally get into how the maps are setup on this site. Above
you will notice the alphabet, some of the letters are linked. Instead
of sending you around aimlessly at pages that have no content on them,
I have made it easy to browse through maps archived on this site. In a
nutshell, if the letter is a link, then the page you are about to go visit
will have maps on it.
Not only am I a mapmaker myself, but I also host other peoples maps as
well. However, not just ANY map makes it to Volrath's Castle. Here we
have map testers who critque maps on all different levels of 'opinion'.
In the end a beta test of a map is in all actuallity just an opinion of
what a person thinks of the map. We test and rate our maps here at Volrath's
Castle, and we like to see quality maps. We go by a rating system here
that allows visitors so get a feel for how good or bad a map is.
All maps recieved here at Volrath's Castle ARE reviewed,
and all reviews ARE posted, it's the rating that makes a
difference. If your map rates at a 3 or higher, then not only is your
map reviewed, but I will also host a copy of your map and post it here
on this website for others to download freely. If your map rates at a
rating of 2 or lower, then your map will still be reviewed and instead
of being downloadable, an email link will be placed on your map review
so that others can email you and request your map. I apologize for having
to do this, but it ensures that I save server space, plus it still promotes
your map.
Now, here's how our rating system works:
|

Good Map An average map that you'd expect to see from any 'regular'
mapmaker. Maps in this category aren't in any way 'bad', they're just
not as good as they could've been. Maps in the 3 dot category still warrant
a download. |
|
 Poor Map
Maps in this category tend to be low in quality and low in detail. These
types of maps usually need some major work on them usually dealing with
issues of detail, starting locations, tiling error, and things of that
sort. Maps at a rating of 2 or lower are provided with e-mail "request"
links instead of download links. |
|
Mediocre/Failure Map The author of this map either didn't
care about his or her map, or they like wasting my time posting useless maps. |
That is how the rating system works. All maps will fall in one off these
categories. So if you would like to get your maps hosted, then click here.
Otherwise go ahead and start checking out the archive for a map, perhaps
you'll find one you like.
